(4) The platform elevating mechanism shall have a failsafe system to
prevent platform descent due to malfunction or power loss. An emergency
override system operable from both the platform and ground level shall allow
the platform to be manually lowered in an emergency. A warning signal shall
sound when the platform is lowered or the stand is moved under its own power in
reverse.
(5) The stand shall be capable of raising, stopping, and holding 750
pounds located anywhere on the main platform up to the fully elevated position.
(6) The stand shall be capable of negotiating a 17-degree ramp for
aircraft loading; no part of the stand other than the wheels shall contact the
surface while being rolled into the aircraft.

Models
a. Electric, An electrically powered stand shall comply with class 1,
division 1, group D of the National Electric Code. A battery charger, operable
on 115V/220V, 50/60 Hz, shall be provided, as a non-integral part, with each
stand. A fully charged stand shall be capable of 8 hours operation with a
25-percent duty cycle, or 2 hours continuous operation.
b. Diesel. The diesel engine shall operate on standard diesel fuel,
JP-4, JP-5, and JP-8.
c. The electric and diesel stand designs shall incorporate parts
interchangeability to the maximum extent possible.
Color and finish. The stand shall be Forest Green, color 24052 in accordance
with FED-STD-595. The stand shall be painted, and exposed surfaces shall be
coated or finished, using the manufacturers best materials and standard
practices.
Display information. All information specified herein shall be legible,
visible, and accessible and shall be permanently displayed on the work
platform. Reflectors shall not be required.
The following information shall be identified on plates:
a. Plates.
(1) Warnings, cautions, or restrictions for safe operation -- to be
identified in red.
(2) Make, model, serial number, manufacturer's name and address,
rated load, and gross weight.
(3) Rated load and maximum platform height visible at platform
access points.
(4) Alternate configuration statement near access points -- (Only
required if rated load changes in alternate configurations).
