3 . 2 . 1 S t a n d a r d s p a r t s . A N or MIL Standard parts shall be used wherever they
are suitable for the purpose, and shall be identified by their part numbers.
Commercial utility parts such as screws, bolts, nuts, cotter pins, et cetera,
m a y be used, p r o v i d e d t h e y h a v e s u i t a b l e p r o p e r t i e s a n d a r e r e p l a c e a b l e b y t h e
A N or MIL Standard parts without alteration and provided the corresponding AN of
MIL part numbers are referenced on the drawings and in the parts lists. In
a p p l i c a t i o n s for which no suitable corresponding AN or MIL part is in effect on
d a t e o f i n v i t a t i o n f o r b i d s , c o m m e r c i a l parts may be used provided they conform
to all requirements of this specification.
3 . 3 D e s i g n a n d c o n s t r u c t i o n . T h e maintenance platform shall be designed and
constructed so that no parts will work loose in service. It shall be built to
withstand the strains, jars, vibrations, and other conditions incident to
shipping, storage installation, and service.
3.3.1 The maintenance platform shall be constructed so that adjustments and
repairs can be easily made by the personnel of operation units and overhaul
bases.
3 . 4 I d e n t i f i c a t i o n o f p r o d u c t . Equipment, a s s e m b l i e s , a n d p a r t s s h a l l b e
m a r k e d for identification in accordance with MIL-STD-130.
3 . 5 Workmanship. T h e m a i n t e n a n c e p l a t f o r m , i n c l u d i n g a l l p a r t s a n d
a c c e s s o r i e s , shall be constructed and finished in a thoroughly workmanlike
manner. P a r t i c u l a r a t t e n t i o n s h a l l b e g i v e n t o n e a t n e s s a n d t h o r o u g h n e s s o f
m a r k i n g of parts and assemblies, w e l d i n g a n d b r a z i n g , p a i n t i n g , r i v e t i n g ,
m a c h i n e - s c r e w assemblies, a n d freedom of parts from burrs and sharp edges.
4.
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the
contract or purchase order, the supplier is responsible for the performance of
all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified,
the supplier may utilize his own facilities or any commercial laboratory accep-
t a b l e to the Government. T h e Government reserves the right to perform any of
the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed
necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
4 . 2 C l a s s i f i c a t i o n o f t e s t s . The inspection and testing of the platform
shall be classified as acceptance tests.
4.3 Acceptance tests.
Acceptance tests shall consist of:

4.3.1 Individual

Each maintenance platform shall be subjected to the
following test:
4.3.1 Examination of product. Each maintenance platform shall be inspected
to determine compliance with the requirements specified herein and the drawing
with respect to materials, workmanship, and marking.
