3.4 Design and construction. The design and construction of the tie down
assembly shall be as specified herein and in accordance with the applicable
specification sheet.
3.4.1 Dimensions and tolerances. Dimensions and tolerances shall be as
specified on the applicable specificati on sheet.
3.5 Performance. Tie down assembl ies shall be performed satisfactorily
when subjected to the applicable tests specified in this specification, and
the applicable specification sheets.
3.6 Finish. All surfaces shall have a smooth finish and be free from
burrs and sharp edges.
3.7
Identification of product.
3.7.1 Marking. Tie down assembly marking shall be as indicated on the
applicable specification sheet, MIL-T-85075/1 or MIL-T-85075/2.
3.7.2 Part numbering and drawing numbering. The manufacturer's basic
part number and drawing number shall be the same.
3.8 Workmanship. Workmanship shall be high grade to insure that tie down
assemblies are of uniform quality and free from burrs, slivers, sharp edges,
or other defects which would affect their service or performance, and shall be
uniform in their appearance without any mold flash.
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Repsonsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the
contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance
of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise
specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or
any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection
requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The
Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in
the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure
supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
4.1.1 Responsibility for compliance. All items must meet all
requirements of section 3 and 5. The inspection set forth in this
specification shall become a part of the contractor's overall inspection
system or quality program. The absence of any inspection requirements in the
specification shall not relieve the contractor of the responsibility of
assuring that all products or supplies submitted to the Government for
acceptance comply with all requirements of the contract. Sampling in quality
conformance does not authorize submission of known defective material, either
indicated or actual, nor does it commit the Government to acceptance of
defective material.
4.2 Classification of inspection.
The inspection and testing of tie down
assemblies shall be classified as:
First article inspection (4.3)
