3.8 Identification of product. Equipment, assemblies, and parts shall be
marked for identification in accordance with MIL-STD-130.
3.9 Workmanship.
3.9.1 General. The maintenance platform including all parts and
accessories, shall be fabricated and finished in a workmanlike manner;
particular attention shall be given to the following:
a. Freedom from blemishes, defects, burrs, and sharp edges.
b.
Accuracy of dimensions, radii of fillets, and marking of parts and
assemblies.
c. Thoroughness of soldering, welding, brazing, painting, wiring and
riveting.
d.
Alignment of parts and tightness of assembly screws and bolts,
3.9.2 Riveting. Riveting operations shall be carefully performed to
insure that the rivets are tight and satisfactorily headed.
3.9.3 Cleaning. The maintenance stand shall be thoroughly cleaned.
Loose, spattered, or excess solder, metal chips, and other foreign material
shall be removed.
4.
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS
4.1 Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the
contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance
of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise
specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor may use his own
or any other facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection re-
quirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The
Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in
the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure
supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
4.2 Classification of Inspections. The inspections of maintenance
platforms shall be classified as follows:
a. First article inspection (see 4.3)
b.
Quality conformance inspection (see 4.4)
4.3 First article inspection. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.3),
first article inspection shall consist of the examination in 4.5 and all tests
in 4.6. Failure of the preproduction sample to pass the preproduction inspec-
tion shall be cause for rejection.
