4.6.5 Tear down inspection. After completion of the tests specified in
4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.6.3 and 4.6.4, the maintenance platform shall be completely
disassembled and inspected for failure of hydraulic packing.
4.7. Inspection for preparation for delivery. The presentation, packag-
ing, packing and marking of the maintenance platform shall be examined and
tested to determine conformance with the requirements of Section 5 of this
specification, and as required by specifications referenced therein. Except
as required by referenced specifications, inspection lots and sampling shall be
level L-5 in accordance with M1L-STD-105 and the AQL shall be 4.0 percent
defective.
PACKAGING

5.1 Preservation. Preservation shall be Level A, C or standard practice

for Commercial packaging (See 6.2).
5.1.1 Disassembly and matchmaking. Disassembly shall be the minimum
necessary to safeguard parts known to be subject to damage, loss or breakage in
transit and to accomplish reduction in cube. Bolts, nuts, screws, pins,
washers and other attaching parts removed shall be reinstalled in one of the
mating parts and secured to prevent their loss. When necessary to facilitate
reassembly, parts removed and mating parts shall be matchmarked. Matchmaking
shall be printed on shipping tags conforming to UU-T-81, Type A. The printed
tags shall be waterproofed in accordance with MIL-STD-129,
5.1.2 Level A. The maintenance platform shall be preserved in accordance
with Method I of MIL-P-116. All bare or unpainted metal surfaces subject to
rust or corrosion shall be coated with P-1 type preservative. The hydraulic
systems shall be preserved in accordance with MIL-STD-162. The electric cable
shall be preserved and packaged Method IC of MIL-P-116.
5.1.3 Level C. The Level A preservation for the maintenance platform
shall conform to the MIL-STD-794 requirements for this level.
Commercial packaging shall be in accordance with
5.1.4 Commercial.
ASTM D 3951.
Packing shall be Level A, B, C or Commercial (See 6.2).
5.2 Packing.
5.2.1 Level A. The maintenance platform preserved and packaged as
specified in 5.1.2 shall be packed in a container conforming to MIL-C-3774,
Type II. All loose parts shall be packed in a container conforming to
PPP-B-601, overseas type which shall be secured within the MIL-C-3774 crate.
Containers shall be closed and strapped in accordance with the appendix of the
applicable specification.

5.2.3 Level C. The Level C packing for maintenance platforms shall
conform to the MIL-STD-794 requirements for this level.
5.2.4 Commercial. The preserved maintenance stands shall be packed in
accordance with the requirements of ASTM D 3951.
